Protecting Sensitive Medical Equipment with Reliable Power Quality

Healthcare · Power Quality Solution

For healthcare applications, INPOWER adopts a combination of localized and centralized power quality management solutions to achieve comprehensive control from branch circuits to substations.

Typical Case:
Hospital Low-Voltage Power Supply System

Project Background: The hospital’s low-voltage distribution system includes a 1,000 kVA transformer, with major loads consisting of central air-conditioning systems and medical equipment.

Challenges: The operation of nonlinear loads resulted in severe 5th- and 7th-order harmonic distortion. Excessive harmonics may increase equipment losses, raise operating temperatures, and affect the stable operation of sensitive medical equipment.
INPOWER installed an LSVG dynamic filtering and compensation system to reduce harmonic distortion and improve the power quality of the hospital’s low-voltage distribution network.

After the installation of an LSVG dynamic filter compensation system, the results were as follows:

The overall harmonic mitigation rate reached 95.08% after treatment.

After treatment, total harmonic current distortion was reduced from 15.02% to 0.97%, with an overall harmonic mitigation rate of 95.08%. The solution improved the operating environment of sensitive medical equipment.
