Power Quality for Heavy Industrial Loads
High-power equipment and nonlinear loads may create significant harmonics, reactive power demand, and voltage fluctuations.
Typical Case:
Indonesia OBI Nickel-Cobalt Project
Project Background: The OBI Nickel-Cobalt Project is a large-scale metallurgical project located in Indonesia. As a key project in the nickel and cobalt industry, the production process involves large industrial equipment and continuous operation requirements, requiring a stable and reliable power supply system.
Challenges: The metallurgical production process involves a large number of high-power electrical loads, which may introduce power quality issues such as harmonic distortion and reactive power fluctuations. These issues can affect the stability and efficiency of the electrical system, making effective power quality management important for reliable operation.
INPOWER provided power quality improvement solutions for the OBI project, including reactive power compensation and active filtering systems.
The solutions included:
- Reactive power compensation system
- Active Power Filter (APF) system
Multiple units were delivered for different phases of the project in 2020, supporting the power quality improvement requirements of the metallurgical facility.
The solution helped improve power quality performance, reduce the impact of harmonic distortion, and support the reliable operation of the production facility.
